Declaration of Principles

The practice of baseball scorekeeping shall honor, at a minimum, the following:

To maintain and preserve a historical document that allows the scorekeeper to participate actively in the historic event that is a game of baseball.

The document that is recorded by the scorekeeper shall allow objective and substantial review of the game, in part or in its entirety, at any point of time after the event itself has expired.

To provide the fundamental basis for increased knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of a variety of elements of the game of baseball through documentation, analysis, and observation utilizing the practice of scorekeeping.

To promote the tradition and recognition of the importance of each game of baseball as the primary means of communication of these events and the impact of those events on the nature of the sport in the past, present, and future.

This blog is dedicated solely to the art of scorekeeping, and the celebration of its importance in preserving the tradition of baseball.
